The Gibson Tarquini Group was commissioned by the Home Port Alliance for the Battleship New Jersey to help implement a phased plan to create a Visitor Center and Museum for the retired Battleship New Jersey. The project will include a pier and a land-side museum, and is a major part of the effort to revitalize the Camden waterfront.

The Home Port Alliance's plans call for a 67,000 SF Visitor Center that has exhibit space, theaters, conference rooms, restaurant area, offices, gift shops, a library and classrooms.

The first phase of the project is a pier that leads to the battleship. The pier is approximately 400 feet in a“T” shape, and allows visitors to access the ship. The pier contains an ‘interpretive walkway,' that tells the story of the brave sailors who served proudly on the Battleship, with benches and decorative stone. At each end of the section of the pier connecting to the Battleship, stair/elevator towers bring the visitors aboard.

Included in this project is a 4,000 SF Butler Building Visitors' Center that houses the gift shop and vending.
