Construction Cost:

Completion Date:
March 2006

The Gibson Tarquini Group was hired directly by the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation for a major expansion project for Millville School District. The core facility addition to Lakeside Middle School consists of a 35,200 SF gym/auxiliary gym and a 19,400 SF/1,100 seat performing arts theater, a 2,000 SF lobby, and practice rooms for chorus and band totaling 1,600 SF. All related spaces such as locker rooms, music practice rooms, offices and storage are included in the addition.

The school is a converted office building that has served as a Middle School for several years.

The original 76,492 SF portion of the building was constructed in 1958. An addition of 79,108 SF was constructed in 1972 so that the building could better serve the 6th and 7th grade populations.

The New Addition allows the school to compete on the same level with surrounding schools in the athletics and performing arts areas. It also provides adequate space for faculty and staff to prepare for their performances and athletic competitions, as well as 7 classrooms for health education.

This $16 Million project was funded by the New Jersey Schools Construction Corporation and was performed by a team of architects and engineers that exceeded the 25% M/S/WBE requirements of the NJEDA.
