Commerce Atrium
Cherry Hill, NJ

Client:
Commerce Bank

Project:

  • 65,000 SF
  • 5 Story Building

Construction Cost:
$7.5 Million

Completion Date:
June 1987

The five-story building designed for Commerce Bank's headquarters is a landmark tower that is highly visible from the nearby main traffic arteries of Interstate 295 and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Commerce Bank, where banking is seen as a retail business, recognizes the role that architecture plays in corporate image. Therefore, the building's lobby, where a branch office is located, is a glass enclosed atrium with bank operations visible from outside like the windows of stores and shops where wares are displayed. In the bank's case, the product on display is a full range of financial services.

The 62,000 SF stepped building is faced with gray reflective glass and a white metal exterior. The soaring 22-foot atrium is glazed in clear glass and features a waterfall and reflection pool.
